RE: Disney/Orlando Area

we stayed at the Kissimmee/Orlando KOA and loved it during spring break. 5 Miles from the entrance to WDW, we would stay again in a heartbeat.

RE: Power Awnings

Chast, is yours (awning) the one that has a decent drop to it or the one that extends straight out. If it extends straight out and is the Carefree brand power awning, it should have the auto dump. You won't see anything because it looks exactly like the other model with the fixed drop in the awning when extended (which doesn't need auto dumping to clear water). If it extends straight out, extend it in the driveway and hose it down from a ladder, you will see the arm retract and the water clear off. again if it is the Carefree brand power awning.

RE: Power Awnings

I got a caught in a major downpour with our awning extended, the auto dump feature worked perfectly. The rear arm retracts slightly and the water was cleared from the awning. It had to do this three or four times throughout the storm as my buddy and I sat under the awning and watched the rain.

RE: Power Awnings

my opinion, Why have a power awning that is not correct for your TT and you cannot fully use. We used ours on our maiden voyage slightly rolled up too. worked fine, not getting full extension. When i hit my back on the arms which were not very high it made me quite PO'd. with the new awning (straight out) the arms are higher and I have not hit anything on the arms. I can also extend the awning to it's full extension. bought the little hangers than slide in the channel of the roller. Makes hanging lights a lot easier. Can't do that partially rolled up. Mario's 2 cents. please shop again... LOL

RE: Lake George, NY to Bar Harbor, ME

thanks for the replies, we are excited to be making the trip next summer and I am one to plan plan plan. Looking at the maps had be a little concerned. We have limited time on vacation and this is one trip the DW and I are looking forward to. I don't want to drive 35 mph on a more direct route as opposed to getting there quicker and enjoying time out of the truck and at the campground/ surrounding area. Mario BTW if you notice my location, we are already driving from NorthEast Ohio to Lake George, NY on the first leg of the trip.. we plan on spending 2-3 days there (which we have visited before without the TT) before heading towards Maine.

Lake George, NY to Bar Harbor, ME

We are planning a trip to Lake George, NY next summer to visit family. From there we want to head East to Bar Harbor, Maine. Anyone have any suggestions on routes/roads to take? I have three kids so I am looking for something with a one day stopover in NH maybe and then arriving in Bar Harbor the next day. Any suggestions are appreciated since this will be my first trip to to VT,NH,and ME. Mario

RE: towing a htt

We have an 07 F150 Lariat 4X4 crew cab short box, 5.4 with the tow package, and the tow capacity is 13,000 lbs. I have no Idea how told you an HTT was horrible to tow. Our 3,500lb Aerolite 185 Cub tows just dandy on any type of road. Sounds like someone trying to sell you a fifth wheel. If you have the 3.55 gears then you are quoting the GCVWR which is the total of the truck AND trailer. I have an 05 F150 supercab 4x4 w/ 5.4 liter, 3.55 gears, and tow package. The max trailer rating for this setup is 8300#. With that we pulled our 23B to Florida and back without any issue and this was my first trip pulling a TT besides bringing it home. Just watch your turning radius and remember you are longer when changing lanes.

RE: Power Awnings

we had ours replaced for free too. Contact Jayco and your dealer, Only thing is the hassle of taking the TT in for work.

RE: 2009 Jaycos

My sewer pipe doesn't drag... an additional 2" clearance would be nice though, giving me a total of 4" of clearance!! LOL j/k. Your right Chuck it is low and the only complaint I have with ours.

RE: Exterior propane hook-up?

that's exactly why we did not opt for the grill with our Jayco. I use a tabletop model away from the awning and camper to cook on. Just the smoke/grease alone under the awning makes zero sense to me aside from the safety issue.

RE: Camping Clubs

Thanks! That is how we look at it. We are not going to ruin the time we have as a family with people that choose to act that way. We are planning our trip for next year to Maine and have no intentions on asking them to join us. That's what is so great about these forums, everyone helping each other with questions and opinions. It was a godsend to find this before we made our purchase and to this day. I am glad to be a part to help others who are new to here.

RE: Camping Clubs

We upgraded from a tent this year and the annual week long trip with our camping buddies was not so much fun (they are still in their tent). The DW thinks it was camper envy that made my buddy's wife act like she did. It's too bad since Mohican State Park in Ohio is beautiful. Needless to say we are not planning any trips in the future with them anymore because of this. Oh well, we have found our fellow RV'ers to be a great bunch of people at every campground we visited this year.

RE: "Flat Pitch" Power Awning for Jayco 23B

I had this problem with our 08 23B. The issue has to do with the arms mounted to the side of the TT. Jayco will replace the arms with a pair that are longer, this allows the awning to extend straight out with very minimal drop (2"-3" at most). I am six foot and the awning before would be at face level when fully extended. After the change out I have to stand on a cooler to reach the awning to put up lights. I contacted Jayco directly, they advised to contact the dealer and they would replace the arms at no charge. I should have some pictures on my web albums of before and after, they are located in the Camper Pics album.

RE: Jayco 23B

We bought ours in January during the RV show so the deals were there if we were willing to pull the trigger. I honestly don't know what we paid for the add ons since the DW is the financial Dept and I am the Spend Dept.. We also purchased a Reese WD hitch w/ sway control and a Prodigy Brake Controller.

RE: 2008 Jayco 23B Double Bed

We place both small cushions in the front bunk stacked on top of each other and strap them with the larger front mattress. The back closes nice and easy without the small one. Trick is to only strap the pads with the middle strap then close the bunk up. After it's secure you can strap the pads with the end straps too. Front is larger than the back. Back is a double front is a queen on the 2008.

RE: Jayco 23B

we love ours, paid a lot less for ours $13,900 plus hitch and brake controller. I had to have my awning switched for the flat pitch model and I think all newer ones have it now. besides that we love the u-dinette. Slept three girls 5,7,& 11 on it with no problem. I would highly recommend this model to anyone.

RE: Just Picked up our 23B...TV relocation??

I've been thinking of doing this too. An arm that can swing the tv out towards the dinette or sofa. I disagree on relocating the connections, I think all that is needed is a wire channel to route the wires down along the wall to the outlets and DVD player. My thought on mountimg the arm to the microwave cabinet included bolting a plate on the inside of the cabinet to the tv mount to spread the weight out over a larger area reducing the likely hood of screws pulling out of the wood cabinet itself.
